...so mothers be good to your daughters too...

So. I am officially My Mother's Daughter. I'm sure there are many reasons why this is true (hem hem purse obsession, return everything 3 times and buy it again, etc.), but the one major trait that is shining through the genetic pool today is to rearrange furniture. And I don't just mean move a picture frame from one side of the room to the other, but completely turn the house ON IT'S HEAD. Lemme explain.

I hope my siblings will back me up on this one, because I have the craziest memories of waking up on the occasional Saturday morning to the soothing sounds of vacuuming, furniture being dragged, and the inevitible finger being smashed. This sweet noise was always accompanied by the sight of at least one mattress in the hallway, usually two, and my mom and whichever of us poor saps who had made the mistake of waking up first and got roped in to helping grunting and sweating behind. She would literally change every single one of our rooms (4 of them). Think of it like a giant Tetris game...do we move the twin bed first or the queen? If we put Christian under the stairs, where will we put his dresser (these words were actually uttered)? Could we fit three beds in the downstairs room and make a food storage room in the spare? Will the shelves fit? And no you canNOT put the giant ceramic panther on top of your bookcase! Micaela! Take your Rick Schroeder poster down NOW!

It would have been totally lame to my 13 year old self to think that one day, I would LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOOVE to rearrange furniture as much as or more than my mom. And yet here we are. I've lived in this house now for approx. 10 months, and I have already rearranged the house twice. THE HOUSE. In sum, the only room in the house that hasn't been touched is the kitchen, and only because everything is bolted down. It was great fun, although we now have a treadmill sitting in the center of the guest room because we are both too tired to do anything about it.

I've concluded that this is what one does on the weekends when one's noodle feels underused. It feels compelled to come up with some stimulating and fulfilling mental challenge to feel like it's free time was used in a responsible way. And so that I don't have to tell people that I sat on my tuckus and watched Scrubs reruns all weekend. That is the sole reason I do anything.

Happy Harry Potter Day!

I don't care how much you all make fun of me, because Friday night was SO AWESOME! We looked like dorks, but it was fun to be a dork again (not that I ever considered stopping). We didn't actually get our books until about 1:30am, but it was a good time to be had by all and worth the wait.

More to come soon of normal life...

Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Meeeeeee!

In honor of the blessed day on which I, Micaela Heather Moulton Johnson Crapo was born, I wanted to show you all cute pics of me when I was a youngster. Alas however, I am too tired and can't figure out the stinking scanner.
So, instead of you a pic of mi petite familia. Aren't they cute!
In lieu of a corny e-card, please feel free to post your birthday wishes of love, money, and gifts on the message board.
Toodles.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii looked out the window and what did I see? Popcorn popping on the apricot tree (Addy's new fav song)

Oh my heavens I am GENIUS!!! I finally figured out how to post a slideshow. Hurrah! And lucky you, this means you get to reap the benefits.
I've included pictures from our trip to Seattle at the end of May, and a bunch of my sister Lindsay's wedding. Enjoy! Click on the picture below to start the show.

So wasn't that wonderful? Don't we have a beautiful, normal looking family? For a view inside the workings of the REAL Johnson family, et al, see below. Click on Mr. Rat Face to begin slideshow #2.
